We first shared a roast beef sandwich and chocolate malt shake at Potbelly Sandwich Works. They were both yummy!
Then we walked around the harbor and checked out the inside of the Gaylord Hotel. I got to stay at the Gaylord resort in Orlando for free a few years ago while my sister was there for a conference. The hotel at the National Harbor was nice, but nothing compared to the one in Orlando. It had themed areas with everything from alligators in one area to a floating restaurant on a sailboat in another area.

After walking around, we stopped at Aromi d' Italia and shared a panini (it was okay) and we each got some gelato. I had caramel chip and Jeff had tiramisu. As you can see in the picture, Jeff got a lot more than me!
We spent some quality time sitting on a bench and talking.
Then we (I) had to make the difficult decision of what to do next. They were about to show a free movie (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) on a large outdoor screen. This seemed like a fun option but instead we ended up going to the movie theater to see District 9, a movie about aliens that our friends highly recommended. I love movies with aliens, sharks, and dinosaurs so I enjoyed the movie. Jeff however, wasn't the biggest fan. He thought the movie was entertaining but doesn't like gory scenes that make you feel queasy. There was a lot of that in this movie.

All in all, we had a nice evening out. We would definitely recommend the National Harbor as a place to go on a date or with your family. I don't know if we would recommend District 9 for everyone, but check it out if it seems like your type of movie!
my favorite pic is of Jeff, who looks like he could be 9 years old and enjoying his first ever milkshake...
ReplyDeletecracks me up.
I've never been to national harbor. we'll have to check it out. In fact I haven't been on the wilson bridge since it was 'finished'.
While Jennifer and Jeff had fun we had fun with Kira. She is a real sweetie! She slept almost 12 hours at night! A favorite time is right when she wakes up. She is always so cuddly and happy to see us.
