Another Great Resturant Closed

I'm depressed.  First they closed Flat Top Grill in Arlington, and now Little Viet Garden has closed up shop.

Little Viet Garden was always a favorite because they had a dish called "Caramel Chicken with Ginger in a Clay Pot."  Long name, I know, but it was sooooo good.  The sign on the door encouraged us to try their other location Miss Saigon in Georgetown.  I guess we'll have to try it, but it is a bit of a pain going into the city.

So in an effort to cheer myself up and give you something better to read, here's a list of some good places we like to eat in or around Springfield.

  • Mike's American - One of my favorites (and part of the Great American chain).  You have to ask for extra Auzzie rolls.  They are like donuts.  And my favorite dish is the Drunken Ribeye (marinated in Pale Ale).

  • El Paso - Best Mexican in Springfield.  Not much to look at on the outside, but the Super Burritos will fill you up good.  Chipottle likes to brag about how big their burritos are, but these put them to shame.  Just try to save room while scarfing down the excellent (& free) chips and dip.

  • 5 Guys Burgers - Dieters beware, you don't want to be within 100 yards of this place.  I think you gain a pound or two just walking in the door.  But it is so worth it (says the guy that never gains weight).  The burgers are dripping with grease and the fries are dipped in three types of cooking oil.

Others worth mentioning: Hard Times (chili), Outback (steaks), Tokyo Inn (Japanese Steakhouse)
